Tampa dermatologist Forman dermatology and skin cancer instituteMarking the beginning of May as well as ?Skin Cancer Awareness Month,? Tampa dermatologist Dr. Seth Forman was featured on WFTS-TV ABC Action News? 5:30 p.m. broadcast on May 2nd to discuss the frightening trend of skin cancer in young adults. The piece, which also aired Sunday, May 5th during the 6 a.m. broadcast, was narrated by ABC Action News journalist Jamison Uhler, who was recently diagnosed with two skin cancer spots on his nose.

You can watch the Tampa dermatologist?s segment on ABC Action News? YouTube page, http://youtu.be/x7FLEWa98A4.

The most common form of skin cancer, basal cell carcinoma primarily affected older generations in the past. However, dedicated ?sun worshippers? are coming in to see dermatologists as early as in their 20s to have suspicious spots on their skin checked out.

?When I was in training 11 years ago, when a 25 year old or a 35 year old would come and say ?I have an acne bump on my nose,? I would say it was probably an acne bump,? said the Tampa dermatologist. ?These days, you know, all bets are off.?

The segment went on to report that half of U.S. adults under 30 have had a sun burn at least once in the previous year, with studies finding that just one sunburn in an adult?s life can nearly double their risk for skin cancer.

?I think it?s the obsession with being tan and the obsession with having color,? said Forman.

Moving into his personal story and his skin cancer treatment with the Tampa dermatologist, Uhler admitted to the risks he took in his younger days and his refusal to wear sunscreen until he was in his 30s. Learning that current sunscreen vigilance is no match for past behaviors, Uhler and another patient of the Tampa dermatologist, Becky Wagner, who also has basal cell carcinoma, now know that prevention is the biggest factor in the fight against skin cancer.

Forman has previously been featured on local news broadcasts for his effective skin cancer and various groundbreaking skin condition treatments. WFTS-TV recently did another segment on the Tampa dermatologist?s work with UV phototherapy treatment, Psoria-Light. He also appeared on the nationally syndicated medical show ?The Doctors? to talk about his success using SRT-100 on those living with skin cancer.

Between groundbreaking treatments for skin cancer, psoriasis and vitiligo and high-quality cosmetic and medical spa services, the Forman Dermatology and Skin Cancer Institute has become a top dermatology office in Tampa and neighboring cities.
